I’ve found that one of the staple graphic art assignments is to research a designer and then do a cool layout of the findings.
Everyone in the class warmed up with Eric Gill, type designer:

And then for the second designer of my choice, I read up on Edward Tufte. His work, while not flashy, is amazing! I have one of his books checked out from the library right now.

    There’s a reason for that… the text was given to us and I’m uncomfortable with some of the things it says. So try to enjoy it from a distance. 🙂

    LOL Rachel! I can understand not being comfortable with some of the stuff you see or are handed in class! This is about your layout… very nice and business-like! Modern. I really like your Eric Gill piece…fun!

    Type is something I love though. Next quarter is Typography and I am looking forward to it. Illustrator has been fun too because I get to work with type (and write, which I love doing.)
